During the next Pill with Guy Julier students will explore which is the role of design related to the socio-economic context we live in.
This course will focus on the Design of Future Scenarios as a discipline and step of the Service Design process. In particular, it will examine how to understand the project context and envision design directions that are coherent with wider socio-economic panoramas. At the same time, a critical approach to thinking about Service Design and its possible futures will be explored. This will be covered through a mixture of class discussion, lecture, workshop, independent study, individual and group research and creative practices.
By the end of this module, students will be able to envision a future scenario and to understand its relevance for current Service Design practices, finally translating it into a contemporary project. That is, how can we re-design ageing?
